Special thanks to PMJ for telling us her Dating Success Story!
Across generations, dating is one of the most intimate ways of being with someone.
People describe it individually as just going out, being with someone, hooking up, just friendship and also at times physical intimacy (aka friends with benefits).
For me dating has to be adventurous, with cute and funny moments, a lot of pampering, and good conversation. I want to get to know and understand my date. At least that was how I fantasized it should be…
My dating success story began just after I turned twenty. And I’m not embarrassed to say that it was also my first date ever.
Believe it or not, I met him online (blindly) and just started chatting.
We got close in no time and finally decided to meet up. The day we picked was Valentines day (I know but it was so romantic!).
I wanted my first date to be different from all the ones I’d read about, so I came up with the idea that we would switch roles. That meant that I had to plan the date and do everything else as well.
Valentines day finally arrived and I dressed myself in a beautiful red satin gown with high heels and a pair of small diamond earrings to make my ears look elegant.
I hurried up as I was also the chauffeur that night and was suppose to pick up my guy.
I drove to his place, got out of the car and knocked on the door. I was a little nervous as we had never exchanged photographs so I had no idea what he looked like.
When he answered the door I was blown away. What I saw was the most handsome man I had ever seen. OMG he was gorgeous!
He was dressed in a black tuxedo with hair gelled up, oh my! I couldn’t wait to hug him, but I somehow managed to control myself.
I opened up the car door for him and we drove to the finest of the restaurants in town. I opened the door to the restaurant, spoke to the waiter, got ourselves seated, and ordered the wine.
Oh my! I decided it was too much for me to handle playing the opposite character, so I asked him if we could switch roles and let things play out normally.
To my surprise, he stood up, lifted me up by my hand, and brought me close to him giving me a gentle hug and a soft kiss on my forehead. I was in heaven!
The wine arrived and we sipped through it talking to each other. He not only listened to me, but he comforted and pampered me like a queen.
God, it was such a nice and beautiful moment and I felt like a real woman – this was my perfect date.
He was just the guy every woman would dream about. He let me sit down and made sure I was comfortable, but I noticed he looked a little nervous.
But looking into my eyes he gave me a feeling that I was the prettiest woman on earth.
Everything was perfect! Heaven on earth!
Then he dropped a bomb on me. “My lady, it’s my turn now”
As I downed the last bit of wine in my glass, I was stunned to see a ring in the bottom of the glass.
As I took it out, to my amazement he had knelt down on one knee in front of me and everyone and said, “I love you.” As he took my hand and slid the ring onto my finger he asked, “will you be mine forever”?
I was stunned. We had just met. But it was like one of those moments where you know that no matter what you say or do next, it will change your life forever.
A tear rolled down my cheek as I said yes, suddenly realizing that I loved him too and that he was the one for me.
The rest of the night was spent dancing to the music and looking at the stars.
I am twenty five today and happily married to him. I can’t tell you how much grief my friends and family gave me for accepting his proposal on our first date, but it was worth it.
My best dating experience turned out to be the dwelling of heaven for me. So that’s my one and only dating success story.
